Centenary Riverside of Lower Don Valley Ecological Restoration in Sheffield
As a part of river Don Valley, Centenary riverside will be created as 4ha wetland habitat providing biodiversity and education benefits whilst contributing to a reduction in flood risk. 


Concept
Simple Design, Low Maintenance, Various Habitats

Design Solution
Make the most use of existing landform: create small hills and ponds; provide the basic spatial structure of the site; hold water when affected by flood
Continuity through the different habitats: woodland, woodland edge, scrub, meadow, grass, reed, water plants
Spatial experience through the site: footpath connect different habitats; combination of the habitat and visual experience; wood board link to open water space
Planting material selection: preserve the existing trees; explore the seasonal change; low maintenance species
